GTC International performed an EPCC engagement for the design, build, construct and commissioning of a 4MWe prime power cogeneration plant located on a six star casino resort complex in the eastern Caribbean. This reciprocating engine plant is powered by two 2MWe Wartsila medium speed diesel engines and was designed to provide the 700 room resort with 100% of its electrical and hot water needs. GTC's unique approach to the building design resulted in full load operation sound levels barely detectable at 2 meters from the power plant. The plant utilizes waste heat recovery from oil cooling, engine water jacket and exhaust heat recovery. Thermal energy delivered to the resort via underground PEX pipe distribution system provides all of the domestic, restaurant and laundry hot water demand. GTC's also developed and manufactured the plant SCADA control system that provided the engine, thermal and electrical distribution system monitoring and control.
